NGC 3078 is located even farther south towards Antlia than NGC 2986, but at least since I was already in the area, it wasn't too difficult to continue the star-hop to its location. &nbps;I found it to be faint but visible with direct vision at 76x as a non-stellar hazy spot; upping the magnification to 123x definitely improved the view.  Nevertheless, I could not detect any structure except a brighter core surrounded by a featureless haze.
