Skies ........... yellow zone, clear, cold, dry, seemingly good transparency

This galaxy is located approximately in the joint of the front legs of the bear, its position making an isosceles triangle with θ and φ UMa.  I found it to be not too difficult to see at 76x, although it required averted vision to do so.  At 159x, it was considerably easier to see, even coming into view using direct vision, but better with averted vision.  I was able to see the core with direct vision, but with averted vision, the orientation of the galaxy became apparent.  I would rate this one as larger than NGC 2639, with a lower surface brightness.
