NGC 1663 in Orion

  This open cluster is NGC 1663, located just north and slightly east of NGC 1662 in western Orion.  Star-hopping to the cluster was not difficult, but this one was significantly more difficult to see than NGC 1662.  I saw about 6 or 7 faint stars that could be held with direct vision, but the rest of the cluster was just a granular haze.  I think with more transparent skies it would be possible to pick more of the fainter stars out and see them individually.
