Even though it was still fainly twilight when I searched for this galaxy, I was able to detect it somewhat more easily than NGC 991.  At 76x, I saw a faint smudge amidst a grouping of three stars.  Based on a naked-eye assessment of the sky, I would have rated the observing conditions as excellent, but I did find it troublesome that at no time during my searches around Cetus was I able to see NGC 1055 very well at all, or even at all.  M77 was easily visible but the more spindly and lower surface brightness NGC 1055 was not, so that did not bode well for seeing these other fainter galaxies.

I did not make any notes regarding the spindle-shape of NGC 1032, so I probably did not see evidence of that, just a faint smudge of light where it was supposed to be.
