From my driveway in Virginia, definitely not a dark site, I took this image of the central part of Canis Major, covering the star Sirius and the great open cluster M41.  According to my planetarium software, there are no other open clusters in this field except for NGC 2345 on the extreme left or eastern edge of the image.  M41 is resolved to its core even in medium binoculars and the stars appear to be countable, in other words there are not so many of them, such as with M37 for example, that they could not be counted without too much difficulty.  Unannotated image.
