While on a trip to Texas, I drove to an area near Fort Lancaster just south of interstate 10; the spot was a picnic area at the top of a plateau overlooking the valley/canyon made by the Pecos River.  As twilight fades to darkness, Scorpius is rising in the southeast.  In this image, I also recorded a phenomenon I have rarely captured, which is the green-colored airglow from emissions of excited oxygen atoms as they recombine into diatomic oxygen molecules after being split apart during the day by UV radiation.  Even though Scorpius is still just on the horizon, the dark dust clouds streaming away from the ρ Ophiuchi area to the northeast (left and lower left in the picture) are easily visible.  Unannotated image.
