| On late summer evenings, the Big Dipper asterism of the larger constellation Ursa Major hangs down in the northwest, as we see here above two pine trees. The north star, Polaris, is at upper right, found as most people know by following the line made by the pointer stars, Dubhe and Merak. The familiar arc of the Big Dipper's handle leads one to the brightest star in the northern sky, Arcturus of Boötes. |
