With apologies to fans of the Minnesota Vik- ings or Baltimore Ravens, let's do away with the purple color and recast the picture more naturally. I also cropped the original image down just a tad, so the scale isn't quite as small as the purple version.

In August of 1993, I bought a used 55mm f/1.2 Nikkor lens at a camera shop in Boulder, Colorado and of course tried it out for some wide-field astrophotography.  I drove out to a location in the mountains of central Colorado near the town of Fairplay and got several nice images, but then also took this picture of the summer Milky Way with a 28 mm wide angle lens ~ the tracking and polar alignment must have been pretty good given the lack of distortion in the corners.  The only objectionable aspect here is the purple color of the sky ~ I must have been using Ektachrome 400 at the time!  Unannotated image, Back
