The planet show in the western sky culminated in the closest approach between Jupiter and Venus at a time that was between the evening hours of the 8th and 9th of June; unfortunately, both those days were completely clouded over! At least I got a picture of the pair on the 7th and again now on the 10th. The separation between Venus and Jupiter is 2°01'14" this evening, and we can still see the gradually fading Mercury just over the treeline, shining at magnitude +0.22. Unannotated image. |
