Saturn and Neptune remain in close proximity to each other and in the month since we last looked in on them, Saturn has gained significant ground on Neptune. Now shining at magnitude +1.09, Saturn has actually brightened since January which must be due to the rings being seen slightly more open. Neptune is at magnitude +7.94, so we see that it is dimming as it approaches superior conjunction. I tried to image the pair this time in such a way as to preserve Neptune's natural color, which I think comes through pretty well! Unannotated image. |
