On this evening when supposedly the aurora borealis might be visible from the middle latitudes of the United States, I could not see anything from my location in central Virginia; however, I did check in on Saturn and Neptune to see how they are doing in the post-opposition phase of their apparitions.   Saturn is at magnitude +0.94, which is quite dim by Saturn's standards, and Neptune is at magnitude +7.84, with a separation of 4°21'06".  Unannotated image.
