| Venus and Jupiter finally arrived at their great conjunction, which we observed from a point west of Gerrardstown, West Virginia. Venus shines at magnitude -3.98, while Jupiter shines at magnitude -1.96; they are now separated by only 51'59". A waning gibbous Moon brightened the sky and landscape but clear, transparent skies afforded us a good view of several Perseid meteors. |
