Venus and Jupiter are only one day away from their conjunction on August 12.  Venus has passed the magnitude 5.3 star 36 Geminorum and shines at magnitude -3.98, while Jupiter shines at magnitude -1.96; they are now separated by only 1°13'53".  At their closest tomorrow morning, the two will be 51'44" apart, so this morning, we are already seeing them only about 45% farther apart than that.
