Mars Oppositions

These charts show the locations of all the "favorable" Martian oppositions from 1954 to 2052, i.e., about 100 years time frame.  These are the oppositions bracketed around the perihelic position in Aquarius.  The opposition years are 1954-1956-1958, 1971-1973, 1986-1988, 2003-2005, 2018-2020, 2033-2035-2037, and 2050-2052.  As always, Guy Ottewell presents information with great clarity and creates the most insightful diagrams to help explain phenomena such as Mars' cyclical motion.  The most comprehensive listing of Martian oppositions that I have found shows orbital diagrams for the period 1880 - 2200.  2082 is gonna be great!

This table shows the circumstances for all Martian oppositions from 1960 to 2054, with disk sizes scaled by diameter (not brightness).
