NGC 4189 is located in a rather sparse area with very few guide stars in the vicinity.  I found it to be very difficult to locate but I was able to hold it in view after locating it view averted vision.  I thought it had a low surface brightness and no structure that I could see.   I had to triangulate its location from several distant field stars.
