This galaxy was extremely difficult to see.  It is located in the middle of the line from Merak to υ Ursae Majoris.  I could not see anything at my usual starting magnification of 76x, but at 123x I was able to barely detect a faint glow at the location of the galaxy, only using averted vision.  No structure, no core, no orientation was discernible.  According to its physical characteristics, it is faint and small, which explains why I had so much difficulty in even seeing it.
