NGC 2880 is located in the neck area of the Great Bear, very close to the star 23 Ursae Majoris (a fairly major star but oddly does not have a Bayer greek letter designation).  I found the galaxy to be easy to see at 123x, using direct vision, and in fact picked it up while scanning the area before knowing exactly where to look.  The core stood out nicely, and its orientation was clear; it had a high surface brightness and it was not the smallest galaxy I've seen tonight.  This has to be a result of its brightness, because according to the observing guide I am using, its dimensions are quite small.
