NGC 2467 was a surprisingly interesting area of great complexity that I had never attempted to observe before.  The observing guide I have been using labeled this object as an open cluster, but that was shown to not be the case, at least in terms of the main object here.   The first thing I noticed was a grouping of nebulous regions, all close together, seemingly related, but detached.  I was not able to immediately detect the open cluster.  Apparently, this complex has been given a name, the Skull and Crossbones Nebula.  Although I would not say that the open cluster stood out to the point where I could unambiguously locate it, I was able to detect a smattering of stars in the area that could have been the open cluster.  The field is very interesting and should be revisited in dark skies with some filters.
