This open cluster is just to the east-northeast of the central star in the line of three stars that make up the horn of Monoceros, that being 13 Monocerotis.  The star-hop is not difficult; begin at 13 and go east-northeast to a slightly curving arc of three stars, the lowest of which is the brightest, and then continue on the same distance to get to the cluster.  I found it to be very small and not easy to see.  Increasing the magnification to 123x was helpful.  There appeared to be a brighter semi-circle of stars around the west edge if I used averted vision to see them; the rest of the cluster was just an unresolved granular haze.
