NGC 2252 is a large, sparse open cluster located just to the northeast of NGC 2244 and the Rosette Nebula.  Locating it is not difficult and once I had the correct field in view I saw somewhere between 6 to 9 stars with direct vision that were probably within the boundary of the cluster, however the rest was a faint, unresolved haze.  An older image of the Rosette Nebula I took in 2016 shows that the cluster is not very apparent.
