NGC 1778 is an open cluster in Auriga.  This object was easy to see, even in my 9x50 finder, and also not difficult to locate.  At 76x I could resolve all of the stars, and it appeared to me to be elongated along (more or less) a north-south axis.  There was a nice double star right in the middle of the cluster.  Although there was an obvious concentration of stars that marked the cluster, it was not entirely apparent where the boundaries of the cluster were.
