NGC 1353 was really difficult for me to see.  Star-hopping is somewhat challenging to this object because of the paucity of field stars, so I had to go back and forth to the charts to ensure I was in the right spot, and even then, to make out a fuzzy object at the location required averted vision and moving the scope around to verify that the fuzzy object was moving along with the scope.  Part of the problem no doubt was that the galaxy was very low in the southwest.
