NGC 337 in Cetus

  This galaxy was hard to find but not difficult to see once I was at the right location.  I noted it as having a very low surface brightness and a somewhat extended appearance, without a core; a fuzzy halo was the only thing I could see at this location.  Its orientation compared to the surrounding stars was an exact match with the detailed DSS image I had of the galaxy.  I used a 20mm eyepiece at 76x to observe the galaxy.  The star-hop from either η Ceti or from the vicinity of φ Ceti is kind of long and in neither case very obvious.
