The galaxies in northern Pisces (there are three of them) were difficult for me to locate owing to my unfamiliarity with the stars in that area of sky between Andromeda and Pisces, and due to the high and turned orientation of it at the time that I was looking using my dobsonian telescope.  So these took quite a bit of very careful star-hopping to identify.
I found NGC 315 to be small but visible with direct vision; it was right next to a field star which made identification easy.  Some concentration was noted but no structure; the core was only visible with averted vision.
